One of the last things I will ever tell you about myself is that I’m a writer.
Odd, isn’t it? That’s what I want to do with my life. It’s what I want to pursue as a career. I set aside money each month with a silent prayer that someday I will be that girl who writes that book and goes to that writing workshop and gets that agent. The issue is, when I tell people of my grand plans, I get The Look.
Do you know The Look? If you have, at any point in time, wanted to be an author, you probably do. It’s “Oh, you’re adorable” mixed with “Oh, that’s hilarious” with a bit of “Oh, you’re delusional” and just a dash of “Oh, your parents support this?” I have been writing since I was ten, been seriously pursuing becoming an author since 2024, yet I still live in fear of The Look. The Look tends to imply either 1) I am weird, or 2) I will grow out of this. Usually, it implies both. And while the first assumption is quite well-founded, it is the second one I have problems with.
Ahem. Excuse me? Grow out of writing?
Haha. Nope.
Perhaps The Look is why I started this blog. I find it easier to show myself to be a writer in front of complete strangers rather than people in real life. I can show you my stories, my poetry, my plans I pulled straight from the Mad Hatter’s hat. You can tell me I’m doomed for Exillium and bound to have my dreams sucked out by Dementors. However, any method short of Floo Powder will fail to give me The Look, and, therefore, leave my optimism unaffected.
So, yes. I am a writer. Hello, and welcome to Wonderland. I hope you enjoy your stay.
